Who is running the NFL’s email marketing program?
- It’s not my birthday.
- I’m a Pats fan. I hate the Giants.
- Who’s running the NFL email marketing program?
I have to assume one thing: they’re trying to drive sales? They’re short on cash? Why else would the NFL be sending me a Happy Birthday message on Tuesday when mine is on Thursday?
Maybe this works anyway.
I can hear their staff now: Ah, who cares? We’ll be close enough and heck, stats show people buy from these “apparent” misfires!
Maybe their platform fired too early or the time on their server is off two days. Ha!
What do you think?
(P.S. Don’t forget, it’s my birthday Thursday. I’m just sayin’.)
(P.S.S Dear NFL – I live close to Boston. I hate the Giants. Another misfire?)

Great post Josh. It will be nice when emails that come from brands are populated with dynamic content based on our personal interests like favorite team, etc. I can’t believe they have your birthday but delivered the email a few days early?!

That is not ok that they mixed up your actual birthday! Their server must be off two days. They’re definitely trying to drive sales, however I don’t think they are short on cash!! Yesterday was my birthday and I got a text message from Olympia Sports (I don’t even shop there). That is a little too personal for my liking, considering the fact that I never gave them any information. Do you think these “birthday emails” will shift to text messages soon? I certainly hope not!
